Tylosin 20% Injection
1) Composition for 100ml: each ml contains 200mg of tylosin PhEur base activity in
50% propylene glycol PhEur with 4% benzyl alcohol PhEur
2) Dosage and administration: inject intramuscularly only. A dry hypodermic needle
and syringe should be used where possible. It is advisable to alternate the injection
site when repeated daily doses are given.
a) Cattle and Calves: 4 - 10mg per kg body weight (1ml per 20 - 50kg) daily
b) Pigs: 2 - 10mg per kg body weight (1ml per 20 - 100kg) daily. In pigs, doses may
need to be divided evenly between injection sites such that the maximum volume
administered per site does not exceed 1.3ml
3) Warning: animals must not be slaughtered for human consumption during
treatment. Cattle must not be slaughtered for human consumption within 28 days
of the last treatment. Milk for human consumption must not be taken from a cow
during treatment. With cows milked twice daily, milk for human consumption may
only be taken from 108 hours (i.e. at the 9th milking) after the last treatment. With
other dosing routines, the basis of the veterinary surgeons advice should be that
milk may be taken for human consumption only after the same period from the last
treatment (i.e. with three times a day milking, milk for human consumption may only
be taken at the 14th milking). Pigs should not be slaughtered for human
consumption for three weeks after the last treatment to avoid blemish at the site of
injection. Tylavet should not be given to chickens or turkeys. Do not administer to
horses or other equines. Injection of tylosin in equines has been fatal. Dispose of
any unused product and empty containers in accordance with the law of the country
of use
