Oxytetracycline 20% Injection
1) Composition: oxytetracycline 200mg
2) Description: oxytetracycline is a broad spectrum antibiotic, and is indicated for
the treatment and control of condition caused by or associated with
oxytetracycline sensitive organisms. A large number of Gram-positive and
gram-negative bacteria, certain mycoplasma species, rickettsiae, Protozoa
and chlamydiare sensitive to oxytetracycline
3) Indications: for the treatment and control of conditions caused by
oxytetracycline-sensitive organisms. Such as Pasteurellosis, Pneumonia, Enteritis,
Septicaemia, injection of the urinary system
4) Dosage and administration: administer by deep intramuscular injection at a
single dose rate of 1ml per 10kg of body weight. It is recommended in cattle
that not more than 20ml, in pigs not more than 10ml, and in sheep not more
than 5ml,be injected at any one site. In pigs weighing less than 10kg a 1ml
dose should be used. In young lambs for the short term control of tick borne
fever and tick pyaemia a 2ml dose should be used per lamb.
5) Side effect: hypersensitivity reactions, intestinal disturbances may occur after
administration. Well tolerated but,occasionally, a slight transient reaction may be
observed by the injection side
6) Caution: occasional sensitivity reactions to oxytetracycline have been known to
occur. In such case, administer epinephrine immediately.
7) Withdrawal period:
a) Meat: 21 days
b) Milk: 7 days
8) Storage: store in a cool and dark place below 25°C
