20/25 Penicillin G Procaine and Dihydrostreptomycin Sulfate Injection
1) Active ingredients:
a) Procaine benzyl penicillin 200,000IU/ml
b) Dihydrostreptomycin (as sulfate): 250,000IU/ml
2) Indications: antibiotic-Penicillin G procaine/dihydrostreptomycin provides high
levels of two antibiotics which offer a wide spectrum of antibacterial activity-
penicillin is active against gram-positive bacteria and dihydrostreptomycin is
active against gram-negative bacteria
3) Dosage and administration: shake well before using. Administer by deep
intramuscular injection only
4) Cattle and horses: 10 - 12ml injected at a singe injection site
5) Calves, foals, swine, lambs, sheep: 2ml per 100lbs. Injected intramuscularly.
The dosage should be administered every 12 - 24 hours for moderate injections.
The treatment should be continued for at least 48 hours after the temperature
returns to normal and all signs of infection have disappeared. In lactating dairy
animals, do not give more than two (2) injections each of 4,000 units of penicillin
and 5mg of dihydrostreptomycin per pound of bodyweight. Injections of more
than this will cause residues of antibiotic in milk for longer than 72 hours
6) Caution: keep out of the reach of children. Not for human ues animals may develop
allergic reaction to procaine penicillin or dihydrostreptomycin. Sensitivity to
antibiotic effects after treatment have been abserved.Should be administered
with caution. If difficulty in breathing, swelling of the face or extremities, salivation,
or general discomfort are noticed, discontinue use. Promptly adminster
epinephrine by injection and call a veterinarian. Dihydrostreptomycin should not
be given to animals in which there is an impairment of kideney function.
Adminnister by deep intramuscular injection only. Do not inject intravenously or
subcutaneously
7) Withdrawal time:
a) Offal and meat: 30 days
b) Milk: 72 hours
8) Storage: store in a refrigerator below 15°C
